Children’s Bellydance Classes?

April 20th, 2011

Little girls bellydancing at the age of five, pretty astounding stuff huh!

You can physically see the advancement of motor skills bellydance develops in children and the confidence & joy the dance brings to these little girls now, imagine what a positive childhood experience like this could do for you in later life! My bets are that these little girls will go on to be achievers, in whatever they decide to do…

Many of you ladies (and gents) have asked me if I’ll run a belly dance class for children or mother & daughter/parent & child belly dancing classes. I’d now like to invite you to email stating your interest in Bellydancing classes for children in Edinburgh & Glasgow.

If I receive enough interest I’ll set up a class, spread the word!

Working hard at dancing light..

April 12th, 2011

So it’s one of the busiest times of year for me, people want to get out into the world, to celebrate and live new experiences, heck even nature dances during spring and summer, it’s awesome!

This year is the busiest yet, lots of hen parties, wedding reception shows and private workshops to organise. Also got a lot of requests for performances & prizes at charity events which I am delighted to be able to donate to right now. I’m writing some new sessions for our classes together and firming up some exciting dates for your diaries, watch this space!

Being a Bellydancer is glamorous but it can also a lot of hard work. People don’t see me sitting up til 6am working on the content of classes, the wording of things, making each 8 class pass by hand, packaging things up, dealing with paperwork, wheeling my heavy suitcase & carrying boxes, learning and developing skills and ideas. It’s that thing, if you wanna do something right you’ll put hours and hours into it to produce the best that you possibly can at that time. Watch a swan swimming, it’s beautiful but it’s not effortless, it’s wee leggers are going ten to the dozen under that water, when you realise that it makes it all the more impressive!

..I noticed the other day that this page is visited everyday by quite frankly a ridiculous number of people, I’m very humbled, thank you!! I’ll start to post regularly again, I promise, so if you’re visiting from Edinburgh, Glasgow, Aberdeen, Brighton, Manchester, London, Toronto, Florida, Los Angeles, Perth, Sydney, Bombay, Berlin, Oslo, Istanbul,  Madrid, Moscow, Egypt or anywhere else in between please be assured, if it looks quiet around here right now that’s because it’s about to become a whole lot busier!

Keep dancing,

Relaxing in favourite haunts, festivals with dancing, picnics in new places with yummy sandwiches & strawberries, long days & nights spent with friends… Wow girls, springtime this year’s gonna be massive!!

Video of a lovely dancer performing at a Turkish wedding, her style is very relaxing with excellent zill/saggat work but I’ve popped it on here largely because of the comedy factor that unfolds with the kids there. Awh, bless! :)

Personal Update

October 16th, 2009

I hope you’re all having heaps of fun and are all quite busy being fantastical women. I have had a particularly busy few days of college assessments, teaching bellydance here and there, choosing photographs from recent shoot, personal training a lovely client with challenging exercises and applying for a dance leadership course (fingers crossed) Exiting times indeed! :)

I mentioned to a few of you who know me quite well of the troubles I’ve been having with my ears and thank you for your support and well wishes. Here’s that little post I promised. Read more »

Current Classes Update

September 18th, 2009

Hey all!

Classes at Aditi can be booked in the usual block of 8 weeks and NOW are open to drop-ins too! YAY :) This means you have the option of block booking – giving you added motivation to exercise every week and less hassle on the day OR paying on the day as a drop-in – great so you don’t have to worry about missing any weeks or joining midterm and also if you fancy trying Bellydance for the first time! Friends are more than welcome – show them what the fuss is all about!

New term starting at Heriot Watt University on 22 September, 5-6pm, in the Students Union. This class is currently only open to HW students and the students association are able to offer it at the amazing price of only £25! – that’s £2.50 per class!! It runs for 10 weeks (term time wk2 – wk11) and will be great fun, superb exercise and a brilliant way to make new friends at Uni! If you’re passing the Union pop into the Advice and Support Centre for more info or book there and then!

Details for each of these classes can be found on the Learn page.

Hope to see you in class!
