I guess improvised dancing, of any style, is the power of thinking without thinking – in it’s most basic form you allow yourself to be physically moved by the music. With practice improvised dancing can also combine the art of feeling without thinking – you allow yourself to be emotionally moved by the music or use the music as a vehicle for your already charged emotions, you let yourself go and surrender to the moment, to what feels right and to what tells the story. If your movements stay true to your physical and emotional connections to the piece, you look naturally confident and your moves look as the music intended. This evokes emotion in the viewer. As they look on they see human feeling, the human “heart” and all it has to offer.
