The Power Of Group Dance: 2

February 15th, 2010

The is one of the best group sword dances I have seen recorded. Famous bellydancer Suhaila’s Bellydance group. For me it’s very understated and the smoothness of the music choice with the contrasting, at times, sharpness of their simple moves. Their synchronisation is excellent, achieved by a well marked out choreography and dancers who have real dedication and belief in the piece. Most of the dancers have a similar look here and flexibility level unifying the piece further. All of this results in a rather addictive performance video! On further views you can then enjoy elements such as individual dancers and their costumes and absorbing more intricate details that at first you perhaps didn’t notice. Enjoy!

The power of group dance: 1

Some of you will have seen this video before, ALL of you will want to watch it again!

Just as the Where The Hell Is Matt video moves me to tears, this video fills me with joy and energy.  Sometimes it’s the beauty of really simple human things that have the biggest impact. Enjoy!

Ojos Asi – Shakira feat. Amr Diab

November 21st, 2009

The girls at Heriot Watt were asking me what this track was so here it is! It’s called Ojos Asi (Eyes Like Yours) by Shakira featuring Amr Diab. There are a few different versions of this track – some sung in different languages, some are dance remixes of those. I personally like it for it’s dramatic and powerful edge. Here, this extended version has been set to some spectacular images of Egypt by YouTube user ‘FallenAngelJFK’ and shared with the world. Thank you!

A little light Egyptology!
