Exciting new way to attend BDB classes!

Posted by +Bellydancingbarbie on March 28th, 2010

For those who have been wondering about the passes some people use in class, here’s the post I added back in March..

How I came up with such a fabulous idea!

During my time working as a freelance bellydance teacher within many excellent organisations and during my time running the sports centre at Stevenson College, Edinburgh I came to think about different payment and attendance options, be it membership, drop-in on the day, advance block booking etc. What I discovered is that whilst one option may work beautifully for one person it may not suit the next so well. Many of the options in place offered great benefits but usually with a little sting in the tail somewhere just due to the structure of that system or in some cases because of conditions placed upon the service user by the service provider. I thought about this long and hard. I considered different industries services and products and the ways in which they approach these things, to name one, the mobile phone industry, with contract and ‘pay as you go’.

Alongside this I was studying the sociable potential of Bellydance and I thought wouldn’t it be great if everyone could get to meet everyone else in all of my classes, regularly, not just as a once a year Hafla or dinner but anytime they fancied!

Add to this my recent decision to specialise my classes into the different components of Bellydance, being the technical & physiological side (Technique & Body Conditioning) and the performance and self dancing skills (Choreo-Impro), I have plans to add further elements in the coming months with classes and workshops which highlight the diversity of the dance and the positives it has to offer women and the community.

So.. you may have heard me mention in class or have noticed something on the site called an ’8 class pass’. It’s the solution I have come up with and it ticks all of the boxes!

Flexibility with no expiry ✔

No additional cost, in fact cheaper than drop-in ✔

Sociability ✔

More learning options ✔

No need to carry cash ✔

Easy to use and easy for me to admin ✔

..and many other benefits..

The only thing the card currently doesn’t do is 100% guarantee your space every week on a particular course of lessons but since most studios I use can comfortably hold 20+ people and I opt to under fill them for your maximum progression this shouldn’t be big a problem.

So how does it work?

Best way to describe it is for you to check on the shop page here: 8 Class Pass and if you enlarge the image you can read the necessary Terms of Use as printed on the back of the pass.

Of course you will still be able to block book a full term of classes securing your space by paying either in advance online or in person at the first class and you will still be able to drop-in to any class without making an investment by paying on the day.

Please let me know what you think, any feedback will be greatly received!

(8 class passes are £50 and there are currently 8 available. You can buy online or in any class)
