New Beginnings

June 25th, 2010

The time has arrived..

I have just completed two years of Health, Fitness & Exercise study at Stevenson College Edinburgh. I achieved an overall grade ‘A’ scoring 95/100 marks in my graded unit for which I conducted, quite possibly, the world’s first research study into motor skill acquisition through the medium of Bellydance. Throughout the entire two years I gave the course my absolute all to achieve the high standards I set for myself. I consistently produced work scoring 90%+ in assessments.  I wanted to push myself for my own satisfaction and to deepen my theoretical learning and the practical application of the work. I wanted not just to know how to do something but also to be able to understand and explain the reasoning behind it. This approach leads to a much richer life experience and I believe, is one of the fundamental things that makes a superior health and fitness professional and indeed Bellydance teacher!

Exciting new way to attend BDB classes!

March 28th, 2010

For those who have been wondering about the passes some people use in class, here’s the post I added back in March..

How I came up with such a fabulous idea!

During my time working as a freelance bellydance teacher within many excellent organisations and during my time running the sports centre at Stevenson College, Edinburgh I came to think about different payment and attendance options, be it membership, drop-in on the day, advance block booking etc. Read more »

Let me know when suits you! :)

January 26th, 2010

Hey!

I’m really interested to find out when are the best days for people to come to classes. Of course I can speculate and take on board individual requests but I also want to ask a more broad audience so I’ve decided to open up this current poll to both members and non members.

I would really appreciate your opinion on this current poll, on the bar at the right hand side of this page.

To take part just click on “Vote” and select the 2 most relevant days for you.

Hi all!

Firstly I would like to how excited I am to get back into dancing with you all! New term kicks off on Saturday (30th January) with a 6 week course at The Aditi Yoga Centre and an 8 week course at The Studio Below. Each class covers all aspects of bellydance with the added benefit of focussing in on either your technique & body conditioning or developing your improvised & choreographed dancing. There are a limited number of spaces left on both and you can drop in to each. See the Learn page for all the details on these. Read more »

"Merry Christmas"

December 25th, 2009
000_0171
On Christmas Eve my parents, siblings, aunts & uncles, cousins, and even grandparents were out in 4 inches of snow having snowball fights and making snow men.. oh and 1 snow buddha! (Diesel the black lab was very cunning and chose his moment well to steal the snowman’s carrot nose!) I’ve had a lovely family Christmas day, a lovely brekkie, some cute pressies, we all prepared dinner and then spent about 3 hours eating it! This was inevitably followed by coffee and grandad napping on the sofa! Santa then delivered 2 pet ferrets!!! which appear to be the naughtiest little bundles and playfulness I’ve ever seen, very curious little sausages!  %) Will update on the ferrets more when I learn more, still in shock! Now I reckon it’s cheese, biscuits and wine time. Dying to try out, amongst other things, “DJ Hero” – test out the old Bellydancers coordination ;)
Wishing you all a very happy Christmas! I hope it’s been full of surprises and smiles and you’ve enjoyed partying or chilling with those close to you, making memories to take forward into 2010.
